Growing Herbs in Your Kitchen

Whether you’re looking to grow your own herbs to incorporate in your meals or just want something pretty to look at in your kitchen, we have the tips for you on how to best grow herbs in your kitchen!

 

Make sure you know which herbs require the most sunlight and which don’t require that much or any at all. And of course, the same goes for the amount of water your herbs might need. Herbs are a great source of flavor for your future dishes, and a great conversation starter, to let your guests know that you grew the herbs in your dish all on your own! No more store bought herbs for you!

 

Knowing which herbs are best for growing in your kitchen is a must. According to Natural Living Idea’s article on the “ 10 Best Herbs You Can Grow In Water ” there are several that you can continue to grow throughout all of the seasons of the year!

 

One herb in particular that they mention is “Basil” a common herb, and as they recommend, “Basil would love the warmth of your kitchen and grow happily in a water-filled container as long as you provide it good light. Take cuttings any time before it starts flowering. If you have several varieties of basil, growing cuttings inwater is the best way to preserve your collection during winter.” Which means it would be the perfect herb to sit right on your windowsill!

 

What’s great about herbs, is that you can create your own herb garden or even find pre-packaged kits from basically any retailer, such as Home Depot , Amazon , Williams Sonoma , and others that sell garden-related items. Most kits will include the most basic herbs, such as Basil, Thyme, and Oregano. But of course, it’s always satisfying to create your own Herb Garden from scratch, but there’s no harm to skip all of the work and grab a beautiful kit on the go!
