The stress and joy of family gatherings can be exhausting, but even more so if you’re hosting. As the holidays arrive, the majority of our time is spent in the kitchen cooking and conversing. Take a look at your kitchen. Is it holiday ready? If not, here are some tips to prep your kitchen for the holidays without breaking your wallet.

#1 Remodel Early

The last thing you want to do is scramble to get your remodeling project completed before your holiday guest arrives. Whether you want a full kitchen makeover or simply upgrade your countertop, backsplash or flooring, it’s best to start early. We know summer isn’t over yet, but if you procrastinate, you’ll fall into the bucket of other procrastinators. This will result in longer wait times to get your remodeling project started.

Now is the time to figure out what items you want to upgrade and request a free estimate . Depending on the size of the project, it may be completed in a week or longer. Prep your kitchen for the holidays now!

#2 Get Rid of Clutter

This may sound very basic, but it works. We all have the habit of sitting items on our kitchen counter and forgetting about it. Next thing you know, your countertop is covered with items and making your kitchen space appear smaller than it is. Simply removing these items and placing them in the pantry, cabinets or kitchen drawers can instantly open your kitchen space.

#3 Make Your Countertops and Appliances Sparkle

Use appropriate cleansers when cleaning your appliances. You don’t want to use products or materials that may be too harsh and cause scratches or peeling. Try using soapy water and a cloth. If you have tough stains, be gentle when scrubbing. You can also find several chemical free cleaning methods online.

You can clean your countertops with warm soapy water, but depending on which type of countertop you have, there are other cleaning methods you can try.

#4 Paint Your Cabinets

A coat of paint can change everything. Whether you want to keep the same color or try something new, adding a coat of paint can freshen up any kitchen. Choose a warm inviting color that best fits your home. You may be so pleased with the new look, you’ll become inspired to remodel your kitchen to complete the look.
