OTHER NATURAL STONE

Limestone (porous)

A porous sedimentary rock composed largely of the minerals calcite and aragonite. Limestone is strong, durable and moisture/stain resistant making it an ideal choice for flooring. With a natural, dull luster, limestone hides minor surface scratches and cleans easily with a mop and mild detergent. Limestone can complement both modern and traditional styles and offers a wide variety of colors and textures to match any décor. Limestone should be sealed with a natural stone sealer periodically for protection.

Tavertine (porous)

A variety of limestone deposited by mineral springs, this porous material has a light color and and can take on a high polish. Stronger than man-made tiles, Travertine is harder than limestone or marble making it well suited to high traffic areas. Travertine should be sealed with a natural stone sealer periodically for protection.

Soapstone (non-porous)

Soapstone is a metamorphic rock, comprised mostly of mineral talc. Because it started out in a molten state, soapstone can withstand fire, extreme heat and dramatic temperature changes, making it an excellent choice for fireplaces, stoves and grills. Although softer than many other types of stone, soapstone is a very dense and non-porous material that is resistant to stains.
